Granada
Despite the negative press surrounding Nicaragua, Granada is a diamond. Reputedly, it is the oldest colonial city in the America, founded by the Spanish conqueror Don Francisco Hernández de Córdoba in 1524. Granada was the nation's main city until the rise of Managua in the 1890s.

It is a city of about 130,000 people although no one really knows because its a long time since the last census. The climate is about 25-27C all year round and there is a fresh breeze from Lake Nicaragua, the largest fresh-water lake in the world. Here are some photos from around the city. Note the American influence and large fish!
