A day in the life of...
Angela Davilo Garcia (aged 8).

"I wake up when the sun gets up in the morning and wash myself with water from the barrel outside our house. Then I wake up my sister (3) and brother (5) and get them ready for school, which starts at 7am.

Normally, mama gives us a bread roll for breakfast which we eat on the way to school. My school is called Carlos A. Bravo and there are 900 children who go there. I am in fifth grade and study Spanish, English, Maths, Sciences, History, Geography and Art. My favourite subject is Art because I get to imagine that I am somewhere else. I like to paint big cities with nice cars and people walking by with thick coats because it is snowing and cold.

After lunch (another bread roll), my friends and I go to Carita Feliz for our class. I go to Computer Studies because I want to learn how to use a computer so I can get a job. After that, I play baseball in Carita Feliz's baseball team and we normally beat the other schools. In fact, last year we were the champions of Granada and my friend, Jose Lopez, was picked to go to play for the national youth team which I was really surprised about because I think I am better than him.

At 6pm on Tuesdays and Fridays, we go to Carita Feliz for dinner. There is a show and I sometimes take part in the competitions - normally I win but not always. I'm with my friends and we have lots of fun. The dinner is my main meal of the day and without it, I would be very hungry. On Monday's and Thursdays I walk my brother and sister to the center for their dinner and wait for them outside. If we didn't have these dinners, our mum wouldn't have enough money to feed us and we would have to find food somewhere else. After the dinner, I go home and watch TV with my brother.

My favourite thing about Carita Feliz is that you can learn anything you want and because I want to be the future Mayor of Granada, I have to study hard both at school and in Carita Feliz. My computer teacher says that one day my dream may come true.
