Background
The work carried out in Carita Feliz is a drop in the
ocean in the search for a solution to poverty in
Nicaragua. This section gives perspective to the
activities of the center. For more information on Carita
Feliz, visit the About section.
Nicaragua is undoubtedly a
poor country in economic terms. However it is rich in
culture and tradition. What's more, cities such as
Granada, are precious yet very
rare. It is a city that remains undiscovered by the
worlds travellers (although it is the most popular
travel destination in Nicaragua).
The
staff at Carita Feliz gather information on the 1,500
children each three months so that we can improve the
relevance of the service to them and find other ways to
help them, such as the sponsored
classes for children who cannot afford the monthly
fee required to attend state school. Our survey results
are posted here.
There is a short
cultural guide to body language used in
Nicaragua, based Andreas Kolind's observations during
his year in Nicaragua. This has been included purely for
those who are curious and has no academic grounding.
Peder
and Andreas Kolind have created strong links between
Denmark and Carita Feliz. Many Danish visitors to Granada
hear about the project first in Denmark and visit us at
the center. There is a short description of these links
here. |
